I use straight needles for every piercing. I haven't encountered a piercing yet that required a curved needle. If you use a curved needle get one that is short. Some pre-sterilize needles are really long in the curved. i've seen straight, curved, and cannula needles used for snugpiercings. i don't think you HAVE to use any certain kind for suchpiercing, however the jewellery choice is limited and does oftenrequire a specific type. a curved needle may create a better hole forcurved jewellery to follow and to heal with. snug piercings do oftentake quite a while to heal as well so keep that in mind.

Can you use a straight needle to pierce the snug of your ear? Or do you have to use a curved one?
