I hope someone sees the humor in this =)

The Cupcake Tattoo
I think this is posed more as a really long question than a featured article, but nonetheless, I think it should be brought to the attention of the collective conscious rather than the unconscious as it appears to be.
Over the last 12 months or so, I've been noticing a new "cool" tattoo, that I'm hoping someone can help me shed the light on. What's with the cupcake tattoos?
Is there something that I'm missing, or is it just that cupcakes are considered cool and cute? Please forgive my ignorance on this, I don't hang out with cupcake-liking people too much. Is this a sign of me getting old, or not "with it" anymore?
The thing is that it tends to be more than just a plain 'ole cupcake. I've noticed a plethora of different types of cupcake tattoos, but there tends to be a division between two sides that I see.
We have the "cute" cupcakes on one side and then we have the "evil" cupcakes on the other.
Here are a couple examples of the cute-cupcake team:
Now for the other team, we have the "evil" cupcake tattoos:
Then there's the pirate cupcake crew. I'm not sure where the skull and crossbones cupcakes fall. Maybe they're the mediators between the good and evil... pillaging as needed:

So can someone help me out on this? I mean, it obviously goes farther than "I like cupcakes". I mean there's a few people on here where the word "cupcake' is even part of their name! If you're going to incorporate a pastry into your name, you gotta be pretty hardcore about that particular tasty treat!
When I ran a search on here, I found 55 people with it in their name. Here's a couple of people that I found on here that are fans of the cake in a cup: roxycupcakes (Louisiana), cupcakekiss (California), gothiccupcake (Tasmania), daintycupcakes (Kansas), cupcakexcore<

Sorry for the long rambling post, I just woke up.
2. Cupcakes i think have just become common ink.. I think its just a phase. From some i have seen they look awesome. Same as any ink. I know Old Skool style Ink has a bigger range, its still common, and people still love it.
I have mine cause my dad calls me cupcake, so when I see mine it makes me smile. Not really a deep and profound meaning though
plus, cupcakes are damn tasty.
:)
I personally think they're cute. I'd never get one though, just because there's hundreds now. I'm an anti-trend lady, haha :)
1. cupcakes stand for sugarcoated baked treats that one can eat, like a mini cake
2. cupcakes are also a popular pet name among people
3. i feel deserts have been making a way into the media of whats cool, cause if you noticed the rap/r

3. i feel deserts have been making a way into the media of whats cool, cause if you noticed the rap artist pharrel has a shoe brand called Ice Creams, and RUN DMCs daughter have a shoe brand named Pastrys.
therefore i feel its more of a trend among the people who follow the current media, that does it.
